La Escocesa (Centre de Creació, 2013)

This video is a guided walk through La Escocesa by resident artists Zosen and Mina Hamada.

La Escocesa is a former XIX century textile factory in Poble Nou (Barcelona) that became a self-managed artists' meeting point in 1999, due to the lack of public spaces for creative people in the city. In 2008 City Council gave provisional management of space to La Associació d'Idees, a group of artists from different disciplines with a long history of regular work in the factory. These same artists are currently continuing their self-management project by offering resident creators and collectives a series of tools at affordable prices (work spaces, a multipurpose hall, materials, promotion, and international exchange) to foster their professional development and assist them in their artistic career. They organize activities in the neighbourhood too. The Barcelona City Council is currently working on an architectural project for the refurbishment of the space.
